The badge changed colour, the name stuck. Meta's documentation now describes Official Business Account numbers as carrying a blue checkmark beside their name in the contacts view; the phrase "green tick" persists in the market because that is what the badge looked like for years. Either way it means the same thing: Meta has confirmed the number belongs to an authentic business.
What Meta actually requires. Per Meta's Official Business Account documentation, the number must comply with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy, have been registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days, belong to a business portfolio that has passed Business Verification, have two-step verification enabled, and have an approved display name. Requests go through WhatsApp Manager or the Official Business Account Status API, and a denied number waits 30 days before reapplying.
Not the same as Meta Verified. Meta Verified is a paid monthly subscription that also grants a badge, alongside account support and impersonation protection. It launched on the WhatsApp Business app in selected markets and availability still varies by country. Official Business Account status is earned rather than bought.
Why it matters for brands
A badge lifts open and reply rates, because customers can see the sender is not a scam number — and Business Verification is a prerequisite for serious messaging anyway. Your BSP, TikJoy included, normally files the request on your behalf.
